olá pessoal! I’m stoked to announce some more live music for you all at a venue I’ve heard a lot about but never played: the Shrine World Music Venue in Harlem.

I’ll be playing a solo set on thursday july 11 at 7:30 pm and can’t wait to bring you some fresh interpretations of old songs as well as some of the most recent tunes I’ve written for the new project currently in the works.

it’s been a busy summer—I’ve been out of town a lot, and it’s been difficult to find some of the consistency that felt like a strength over the course of the winter and spring.

that being said, it’s all a part of building toward bigger and better things, and I feel myself learning and growing with each challenge that comes. I’m doing my best to focus on the process rather than the end product, but gigs like this one give me a chance to interpret my experiences and transform them into a form that other people can hopefully connect with.

that’s my favorite part about music: it’s another lens through which to view and explain the world. I’ll be exploring that thematically at this show next month—hope you can make it!

speaking of the new album, the tracklist and structure are finally taking shape.

currently, I’m working with my man Esmute to figure out the drum arrangements for each song. once we’ve developed those, I can record a scratch track over which he lays down recordings of the drums as they will appear on the album. I can then build the song around those final drum tracks he sends me.

it’s a real 21st century partnership. Esmute is based out of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, so everything we do is remote over instagram and whatsapp. what makes it all possible is his willingness to explore musically: in working together, we surprise each other with what we come up with and that creates true inspiration for us both.

I’ve just sent him over a demo of me singing and playing each song on guitar; a few songs don’t have lyrics yet, but for the most part the musical elements of the album have come together to form a framework that I’m really excited about.

have a listen the first iteration of the album here! it may be a while before I post it in full form again, so the next time that I do I expect it to sound completely different. thanks for coming on this journey with me.
